Prayer Requests

Please be in prayer for Ann Den Uyl, currently serving in Iowa.

Ann has the opportunity to lead a short term trip to Jamaica, February 20-27, 2010.  The trip will be to share the gospel of Christ through medical ministries and learning from a veteran missionary.

Pray for the many students Ann works with in Iowa and the opportunities to share campus ministry in churches.

Please be in prayer for Barb Taylor, currently serving with Earl and Marilyn Shaffer (pictured on right) at Dayspring Baptist Church in Columbus, OH.

Two teachers were recruited for Sunday School and one new teacher was trained.

Barb has had the joy of co-leading a morning Bible study.  As they studied "The Disciple's Prayer Life," they suggested that they begin a Sunday morning prayer meeting in Barb's office to pray for the service and for the salvation of friends they expect to attend.

In January, Dayspring celebrated two baptisms.  Many relatives of those being baptized heard their testimonies, witnessed their baptisms, and felt the love of Christ.

Pray that those who regularly attend would commit to Christ and His church.

The installation of Dayspring's newest deacon is another reason to celebrate.  Pray that God will raise up more workers to fill ministry gaps in this young church.

Please be in prayer for Carl and Lois Sexton, currently serving in Florida.

Training Hispanics to share Jesus with their family and friends - pray as they aggressively train people to be effective evangelists and to impact their countries of origin with the gospel of Christ.

The Sextons are currently undersupported - their committed monthly missionary support for ministry has decreased from 69% to 54% due to the effects of the economic crisis on their supporting churches and individuals.  Please pray earnestly for God's provision for them.  With just 50 people helping with $25/month, the monthly deficit would be met.

Sports Ministries: Carl has been asked to increase his volunteer responsibilities with baseball chapel.  He will be responsible for both the Spanish and English chapels for the Florida Marlins' minor league team.  What an exciting opportunity to impact these young men with the gospel and the word of God.  Vida Nueva church is participating once again in the Upwards soccer program for children.  Nearly half of the children are Hispanic and one family has already visited the church.

The Sexton's main prayer and goal in ministry this year is to have each area of the church functioning effectively.  This will enable Vida Nueva to be ready to take the next step; calling a Hispanic Pastor, who will help them on the next level of maturity and outreach.  The Sextons are trusting in God to help them to reach this goal in His way and His timing!
